Multispecies Pinecone Ginger Folly: A Living Structure in Nosara, Costa Rica
In El Pochote, the first neighborhood of Shift Esperanza, a unique architectural structure will rise organically from the landscape: the Pinecone Ginger Tower. More than a sculptural folly, this pavilion is designed to celebrate the region’s biodiversity, blending art, ecology, and regenerative design. Inspired by the pinecone ginger plant (Zingiber zerumbet), the tower’s form mimics the plant’s layered bracts, creating a harmonious connection between architecture and nature.
